Employees as owners
Many business owners get frustrated because they can’t find good employees, and they ask me, how do I get my employees to think and act like me? So I ask them, what’s the difference between them and you? Well, I own the business and I take all the risks they pay. Then why don’t you make them business owners?
Employee ownership is the best way that I know to ensure that everyone is pointed in the same direction, motivated and rewarded to achieve the business goals. Be careful now just making ownership and option doesn’t automatically solve all of your problems. There’s an education process required to shift the culture from employee thinking to one of ownership mindset. When everyone is aligned to the vision purpose, cause they understand the business and the revenue models and productivity and profitability always increase.
