Ash Johnson of Joluco on Using an ESOP as an Exit Strategy
Former Antarctic explorer and Geographical researcher turned VP of Sales of Geo-Science software company Geosoft, Ash Johnson joins this weeks episode. After Geosoft was sold in 2018, Ash founded his own company, Joluco, which provides management consulting to software and technology companies looking to expand.
Ash discusses the process of how Geosoft became Employee Owned, how the culture of the business changed, and how it acted as a tool to secure the alignment of employees to the direction that the organisation was headed. The ESOP perspective not only motivated employees to work harder and more efficiently, but also consistently intrigued potential employees. The Employee Ownership aspect provided understanding for the type of company and work environment, allowing candidates to understand the community, and spoke volumes to the culture of the organisation and engaging a higher quality of staff to be attracted.
