If you’re feeling overwhelmed and uncertain about how to successfully retire from your dental practice, despite your efforts to plan and prepare, then you are not alone! Many dentists nearing retirement find themselves stuck in a cycle of uncertainty, lacking a clear roadmap for transitioning out of their successful practice. They may be attending seminars, seeking advice from colleagues, and researching online resources, yet still struggle to find a concrete plan that fits their unique situation. Instead of the result they desire – a smooth and fulfilling transition into retirement – they are left feeling frustrated and anxious about the future.
David Pearce, a seasoned dentist with years of varied experiences, found himself on the path of becoming a mentor to his peers. His career began in New Hampshire, where he started his own practice. However, family obligations led him to sell it and move to New York. There, he bought a new practice, and over 25 years, he increased its value tenfold.
His profound success with his business caught the interest of fellow dentists, and David realised he had valuable insight to share. He started coaching dentists on the business aspects of their practice, something he felt was underrepresented in the industry. The spark of curiosity about transitions in dentistry led him to pen two books on the subject. David’s experiences became a lesson for others, as he effectively communicated the art of turning a small dental practice into a profitable business.
